    Event description

Join the network fusing theory and practice in social entrepreneurship!

Each month we hear from thought leaders straddling the theory and practice of social enterprise - then facilitate inclusive and open discussion with a global audience.

It's a place for safe and brave conversation of real, lasting impact.

    This month's topic:

    Networks, bonds and alliances

Service-learning as a driving force for bridge-building in times of instability

What is service-learning? How can it equip change-makers to create a better future?

Service-learning is an innovative pedagogy that promotes solidarity activities linked to the curriculum and led by students. These projects contribute to local development, improve the quality of academic learning, develop proper skills to increase employability, and promote values education and responsible citizenship participation all at once. Knowledge is applied to solving a community’s concrete problems and needs.

In this session we will discuss what service-learning is and share service-learning experiences developed from educational institutions around the world who have been transforming their communities through education as well as how these experiences contributed to transforming them. Discover how a small project developed by students in different levels of education and different contexts have changed the context in which they live. Explore  how the interconnections among those developing these projects, together with the organizations that promote them, generate social capital whose threads give support and containment in turbulent times and shifting environments.
