Social Value in Practice: Lessons from Communities Creating Measurable Impact
Description
Social Value in Practice: Lessons from Communities Creating Measurable Impact
How do we move beyond simply saying we're creating positive outcomes and start measuring, tracking and improving them?
Join us for an introductory conversation exploring how Social Value frameworks are helping organisations, institutions and regions better understand the impact they create and use that information to drive stronger outcomes for their communities.
Presented by Niclas Fenton-Wiegleb, Social Value Manager at Social Value Portal, this session will introduce the internationally recognised TOM (Themes, Outcomes and Measures) System and share real-world examples of how regions have successfully adopted Social Value approaches to guide decision-making, measure impact and strengthen collaboration around shared priorities.
While we'll touch on the conversation emerging in Tasmania and what these ideas could mean for our state, the focus of this session is on the model itself, the success stories from other regions, and the practical lessons we can learn from them.
This is an opportunity to explore the "art of the possible" - understanding how Social Value can move beyond good intentions and become something that is measured, reported, celebrated and continuously improved over time.
In this session we'll explore:
What Social Value is and why it matters
An introduction to the TOM System
How Social Value is being measured and reported in other regions
Success stories and practical examples from around the world
The role of shared outcomes, collaboration and place-based approaches
What organisations and communities can learn from these models
Opportunities to apply these ideas within Tasmania and other regions across Australia
This is not a technical workshop or accreditation session. Instead, it is an opportunity to hear practical examples, ask questions, build understanding and be inspired by what is possible when communities work together around shared outcomes.
Although the conversation includes a Tasmanian perspective, the frameworks and examples being discussed are relevant to communities right across Australia. We welcome participants from anywhere in the country who are interested in learning more about Social Value and its potential to create stronger local outcomes.
