Social Weaving Sessions

In a world that feels like it's unravelling, it can be heartening to transform disparate threads into a cohesive form. More than ever, we need to do tactile, tangible things. Intentional actions, with real people, in real time.

Get together with other self-confessed "basket cases" to enjoy weaving in a relaxed, social space and connect through craft. Bring your own project to work on.

There's no pressure to achieve here, just opportunity to set aside time for making or enjoy a cuppa and a chat.

This is not a formal workshop, but you'll have access to a skilled facilitator for some extra support if you need a hand and some examples to inspire you!

Additional materials (starter kits, raffia, needles etc) can be purchased for a fee in advance (subject to availability - please email seasonsofself@gmail.com to enquire).

These sessions are designed to support participants of previous workshops with Seasons of Self to continue their weaving journey, but are open to all. If you're after more in-depth tuition consider coming along to a skills-based workshop or you can book a 1:1 session with me!

To maximise opportunities to attend, monthly sessions are held across roving locations across Canberra. Times alternate between morning and afternoon. Watch this space for session locations and times or sign up to the Seasons of Self Mailing List to be kept in the loop.

Gungahlin Community Centre

We're taking part in the open day of the newly built Community Centre in Gungahlin! This session will be open to members of the general public to drop in, ask questions and try your hand at weaving - contributing to a collaborative artwork that will be gifted to the centre.

If you're eager to learn more weaving techniques, I have announced two new workshops in July! 

• Wall Hanging in Mariposa Stitch
  Saturday 11 July, 9am - 1pm @ Mingle in Whitlam

• Weaving with Pine Needles
  Saturday 25 July (Xmas in July) @ Yarralumla Gallery and Cafe

About the facilitator
Sally Holliday is a local maker, art therapist, and self-confessed "basket case" who has found immense personal benefit in the meditative practice of weaving. She loves sharing skills of this craft with others in playful workshops that celebrate imperfection and foster a sense of fun.
