Event description

During the last couple of months, there has been an increase in anxiety amongst social workers regarding the fate of social services. The future seems unpredictable and unavoidable; however, despite what one may think, there are plenty of people and organizations fighting to protect civil rights. The goal of this presentation is to emphasize not only the importance of social justice and policy advocacy during these uncertain times but to emphasize hope as a core tenet of social work. You will have the opportunity to be in community with people in various stages of their social work and social justice careers, get a glimpse into where we are and where we can go, and share your experiences/advice with those in the field and those just joining. Join us virtually on Zoom on May 15th from 6:30-8:30pm for a discussion on policy advocacy at both the macro and micro levels, community organizing, and the importance of hope/selfcare during such tumultuous times from the perspective of a current social work graduate student.
