Event description

Children's Autism Foundation (now proudly integrated with Autism New Zealand) presents "Social Communication", a 2‐hour live online workshop for parents & whanau and any professionals who engage with children and young people on the Autism Spectrum. In this workshop you will learn more about how autistic children communicate differently and leave with simple & practical strategies to better support your child or the children you work with.

Topics include:

  • Why is social communication so different for autistic children?
  • How to help children recognise emotions & social behaviour in themselves and others.
  • How to teach & encourage social communication and interaction with others.
  • How to support children with social communication at school, at home and in the community.
  • How to use visuals, charts & apps to support social communication

Plus plenty of time for Q&A at the end of the session.

Facilitated by Jo Sutton

Jo is a National Educator at Autism New Zealand. She is proud mum of three children, one of whom is autistic. Jo is passionate about supporting autistic children and their whanau to live their absolute best lives.

This workshop is FREE for parents/caregivers/whanau thanks to support from Frozen Funds.

Professionals $25 incl GST
