Soft Attack is a modern chamber jazz trio led by double bassist Jacques Emery, featuring close collaborators Novak Manojlovic on piano and keyboards and Thomas Avgenicos on trumpet and effects.


The lush acoustic core of the ensemble is augmented with electronics by each member, expanding the sound-world in subtle and unexpected ways. Warping and fragmenting Emery’s restrained compositions, the band arrives in a sonic landscape somewhere between ECM jazz, folk tunes, and dream pop.

Mina Johansson is an emerging saxophonist and composer based in Sydney/Eora. She is inspired by many corners of the jazz world; her compositions take inspiration from Eastern modal music, the Great American Songbook, contemporary jazz and other forms of world music. Mina always aims to create lyrical melodies through her playing and compositions.

While many performances have a specific theme or tone attached to them, Mina steers away from that idea and presents every tune of hers in distinct genres.
