SOFTEN YOUR ANGER - A MASTERCLASS ON ANGER AND RAGE IN PARENTING

This event has passed Get tickets

    Event description

Many mothers I work with yell at their kids a LOT. Some even hurt their children and send them to their rooms in a rageful way.

My goal is never to shame mothers for their anger and rage but rather create understanding, soften their high expectations and guide them towards safer ways to release healthy anger over time.

Taking a "few deep breaths" and trying to "find your calm" doesn't work for most mothers and yet its what SO many pages, articles and books share when it comes to our own anger as parents  - eg. "before you support your child, you must find your calm!". BUT HOW???

I know what it feels like to experience anger and rage as a mother and then cycle through the guilt, shame and feeling of loneliness - because not many mothers talk about the intensity of their anger and hardest parenting moments in everyday chats at the playground, school line...but I do.

I want you to feel less alone - and from that place, start making sense of your anger and rage, learn tools to support yourself daily to build more capacity in your nervous system AND explore some ideas to release anger and rage more safely.  There is no perfection in parenting and we all have tough days, hard seasons and messy moments. But with regular practice, softening expectations, learning to surrender, self compassion, and lots of repair, you can grow your capacity to be your child's safest person - and start building a more secure attachment to your healthy anger.

At the end of this workshop, you will understand:

    • What is anger and rage
    • The generational patterns we all carry
    • Nervous system responses
    • Your emotional triggers
    • Daily practices for:
      • Nervous system care
      • Emotional release
      • Self compassion
    • Learning to repair after hard moments

There will be some time for reflection and questions at the end.

    FACILITATOR:

Alita Blanchard, Parent Coach, Holistic Counsellor (trainee) and Mother of 4 boys

Having experienced many layers of anger in my home - my own and my kids - I have had to build tools for nervous system care and self compassion so that I could BECOME the parent I wanted to be. I learned to listen to tears, tantrums, ride the storms of meltdowns and support my children through hard seasons of aggression and anxiety without using fear, punishment and shame.

I am committed to changing the paradigm of parenting to one that is based on connection, safety and protecting children from harm - whilst also softening the perfectionism and high expectations that so many mothers are crippled by.

With a high value on growth, I am always expanding my study of trauma, somatic and sensory therapy, aggression, nutrition, gut health, emotional release, nervous system and play. As a highly sensitive person (HSP) myself and raising sensitive, big feeling kids in a world that doesn’t prioritise the mental and emotional wellbeing of children OR their parents, I am so passionate about supporting mothers to be the safest person for their children.

    TESTIMONIALS

Alita's workshop was so supportive. I left feeling a sense of relief as anger and rage in motherhood was normalised and what huge shifts we are making in parenting in more connected and aligned ways. I love hearing Alita share her lived experience and what has supported her through her mothering journey. I would highly recommend this workshop to all mothers, wherever they are in their motherhood. This has been the most constructive 3-week circle group I have ever been part of. Alita is highly knowledgeable - and knows what she’s talking about as she shared about her own journey of struggle, grief, guilt in motherhood. I felt beyond validated at any given time and it’s been a safe space for me. So many takeaways, useful tools that I’m able to actively use in my own journey of motherhood. Thanks Alita, you are the best. — NB

Alita - thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity with sharing your wisdom and empathy through the Soothed Mothers Circle. You are a master at holding space and I felt so supported and seen by you and the other amazing women who participated. I took so much from this experience and feel it's really just the start of my journey, but I already feel more grounded, anchored, and able to stay regulated through the daily chaos - Nicky

Soothed Mothers Circle has been so nurturing for me. I have been stuck in quite a negative place, but the vulnerability and compassion showed by Alita and all the other mothers has lifted my spirit. I wasn’t expecting such a positive outcome, but my whole mindset on my motherhood has changed. I now look for the glimmers every day, and appreciating so much more in my life. I am using tools learnt through this to help self regulate and to help my children with their big emotions. I feel I have made connections with my listening partners and am overall so grateful for this wonderful experience. Thank you Alita. — BK
