Soil and plant health: science into practice with Joel Williams

Internationally renowned plant and soil health educator and consultant, Joel Williams (Integrated Soils) will lead an interactive workshop tailored for Tasmanian vegetable and onion growers and advisors.

Key topics covered:

• Soil biology and soil organic matter - translating science and turning it into practical knowledge

• Integrated nutrient management - learn about low input strategies and improving fertiliser efficiencies

• Foliar fertilising the science of nutrient uptake and tips on foliar feeding

• System design - how to think about and plan your farm for improved soil and plant health

About Joel Williams:

Joel Williams is an independent plant and soil health educator and consultant who has worked extensively in Australia, Europe and North America where he is currently based. He has a keen interest in soil health, plant nutrition and plant and soil microbiomes and how these may support the development of sustainable production systems. Joel has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science specialising in plant and soil dynamics and an MSc in Food Policy where he explored motivations and barriers to the adoption of intercropping. Joel has a passion for teaching and sharing a combination of scientific and practical information and has lectured to farming audiences internationally.

Entry to the paranaple convention centre is via Market Square, the central pedestrian square located off Rooke street and in the heart of the paranaple precinct. Market Square is adjacent to the multi-level carpark, accessible from Best Street and Fenton Way. The entrance to the paranaple convention centre is through automatic doors directly off Market Square. Universal access is available at the touch of a button, providing ease for patrons with access difficulties.
