Soils Club South Coast

Be part of the South Coast’s first Soils Club and gain the skills to conduct soil testing, interpret results, and plan soil fertility programs. Spring is the ideal time to focus on soil fertility and undertake soil testing to understand the nutrient status of your pasture paddocks.

Event details:

Join South East Local Land Services for this practical 2-part workshop designed to build your knowledge and confidence in the soils, geology and landscapes you manage. Through annual soil testing, fertility monitoring and guided discussions, you'll gain valuable insights to support informed management decisions on your property.

Workshop 1 – Soil sampling and testing

• At this half-day field workshop, you’ll learn how to take representative soil samples and undertake soil testing on your property.

• Participants will receive soil testing equipment, and each participating property will receive 2 free soil tests.

Workshop 2 – Understanding your results

• A second half-day workshop will be held in late spring. You’ll learn how to interpret your soil test results and understand what they mean for your soil fertility and production goals.

• With guidance from South East Local Land Services Senior Agriculture Advisors Jo Powells and Cas Weiske, you’ll use what you’ve learned to develop a practical soil fertility program tailored to your property.

You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with other South Coast producers, exchange ideas, and learn from one another while developing a deeper understanding of your soils and their productive potential.

Costs:

• Soils Club is free to attend, with up to 2 people per farm business welcome to participate.

• Participating properties will receive 2 free soil tests, with the option to purchase additional tests at cost.

Workshop details:

• Workshop 1: Wednesday 23 September 2026 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

• Workshop 2: Will be held in late spring, with details provided to participants.

Location:

• Workshops will be conducted on-farm at local host properties, with venue details provided to registered participants.

• Places are limited, so early registration is encouraged. If workshops are fully subscribed, you are welcome to join the waitlist.
