Solastalgia by Alison Currie
Event description
‘Solastalgia’ has been created in by Alison Currie in collaboration with the second and third year dance students who perform the work. They have brought to this process enthusiasm, creative energy, commitment and sense of wonder which has driven the rapid creation of this work and enabled us to explore themes that often feel overwhelming in a proactive and dynamic way
We have explored patterns and textures which mimic or are influenced by occurrences in nature and have reflected on how all of these systems are being placed under strain (and in some places pushed to extinction) by human exacerbated climate change.
The word Solastalgia describes the grief of mourning the loss of a place that is changing in front of our eyes. The weight of this grief can reduce us to inaction and it is easy to believe we are helpless as individuals in our desire to impact positive change in the world, however small actions by multiple individuals can lead to societal change.
The Season is from Tuesday (Opening Night) - Friday
Monday is a Preview Performance
