Solidarity is a Verb: A Conversation across Lands, Languages and Lineages
Event description
Solidarity is a Verb: A Conversation across Lands, Languages and Lineages
✨ One Night Only — October 12 2025 | 6PM | Bankstown Arts Centre
All are welcome to join us for a trailblazing evening of truth-telling, resistance and radical connection. Solidarity is a Verb is not just a conversation, it’s a movement in motion, a meeting of powerhouse women and voices across continents, languages and lived experience.
Moderated by award-winning poet and human rights advocate Sara Saleh, the panel features the inimitable Subhi Bora, Sara Sinada, Plestia Alaqad and Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts— all fierce, fearless storytellers who push against silence and fight for justice through advocacy, art and ancestral knowing.
This one-of-a-kind event also marks the Sydney launch of Uyghur Resistance — a searing, visually arresting book amplifying 33 Uyghur voices through 12 essays and 147 photographs from the global diaspora. Amidst cultural erasure and state violence, this is a defiant act of remembering — and a global call for solidarity.
Expect nuanced dialogue, electrifying perspectives and urgent storytelling — exploring how we mobilise across lineages, build collective power, and turn resistance into action.
The Uyghur Resistance book will be available for pre-purchase and collection via the ticket link (Select: Ticket + Pre-Purchase Book) and can also be purchased on the night.
Light Refreshments will be made available.
All are welcome!
