Solo Career [NSW], Hantu, Zipper and Gayab [NSW] at Bell City Takeaway
Event description
SATURDAY 21 SEPTEMBER - DOORS FROM 7.00PM MUSIC FROM 8.00PM - BELLCITY TAKEAWAY, HIGH ST PRESTON
Solo Career [NSW]
Music | Solo Career (bandcamp.com)
Behold the bops and pops of Solo Career, a lush lo-fi project of Sydney muso Annabel Blackman. Best known as the singer/guitarist from garage-rock quartet Body Type, Solo Career brings an enigmatic but alluring stage presence as she sings drolly on top of her sedate but catchy bedroom pop creations, augmented by lively flute melodies performed by her bandmate Cecil Coleman.
Hantu
056 'Zither EP' | Hantu | Nice Music Label (bandcamp.com)
Hantu is the debut solo project from ethnomusicologist, multi-instrumentalist and member of Melbourne/Naarm post-punk quartet Hexdebt, Isobel D'Cruz. Her first release, 'Zither EP', is built on kinetic field recordings and itinerant zither motifs. D'Cruz augments the soundscape with bass and flute, as well as additional production and instrumentation from Zachary Schneider (Collected Dust). A waterlogged, wordless dictaphone diary, flat on its back. A panorama from the hill at 5am, of what's not yet tomorrow.
Zipper
Dreamer's Gate | Zipper | Tenth Court (bandcamp.com)
Zipper are a post-punk band playing new wave pop with Japanese/English vocals and dueling guitar. Special soft and spiky sounds.
Gayab (ग़ायब) [NSW]
Gayab is a continual vibration in drone experimentation using a hand me down harmonium, electronic tanpura, varying percussion & paan stained walkways of Harris Park as inspiration.
