Description

Soma - from the Greek σῶμα, meaning the body living in its wholeness. Mind, Body & Spirit as one.

Somatics touches you to live from your felt sense experience, connected with your nervous system and your emotional world.

The Invitation

Most of us are excellent at talking about our feelings, but talking about feelings and actually feeling them are two very different things.

Soma Space invites you into a body-led movement practice that uses music, emotional intention and conscious awareness to move feeling states through the body - without performance, narration or choreography.

Emotion = energy in motion.

All we have to do is move it through. This evening of Somatic dance, invites you to be guided through an arc of emotional landscapes which allows you to see, feel and express what already lives inside of you.

Honouring both expression and privacy, music, noise-cancelling headphones and community are there to support you.

Together, these elements create the conditions for something rare: a full, embodied encounter with the depth of your inner world, where you can be liberated from what might be living on in the body and discover new parts of yourself.

The space has been designed to hold all of you. Soundproofed walls mean nothing leaks out. Noise-cancelling headphones create internal privacy and freedom to express. The facilitated framework guides you - whilst your own wisdom leads the way.

Soma Space gives you permission to feel the full range of human emotions and create a greater sense of aliveness.

You can move, dance, breathe, make sounds, witness, lie on the floor, stomp around, hit pillows, scream, cry, laugh.

There is no choreography, no performance, no right or wrong, you make it your own.

The Event Flow

5:00-5:20 | Opening Circle
When you arrive, you'll be welcomed into an opening circle. This is your chance to arrive, tune in to yourself and feel into the collective space.

5:20-5:20 | Somatic Journey
Once the body is warmed up we journey through 3 emotional arcs and let the body lead the way. Props are provided to support expression. Noise cancelling headphones and a quiet space enables a personalised journey.

6:20-6:40 | Integration
Slow landing music brings you back into the room where we absorb and integrate in stillness and quiet before coming back together as a collective. Light snacks provided.

6:40-7:00 | Closing Circle
We come back together to reflect on the experience and take it forward with us into our waking day. Through small group shares we explore what was comfortable, what surprised you and what you’re taking home.

What Our Attendees Are Saying

"I came in thinking this was a somatic dance event and that the headphones were simply an optional addition. What I didn’t expect was how impactful the headphones would be - they gave me the space to drop into myself rather than outwardly tracking everyone else”

“I was given permission to feel and express whatever was genuinely present for me in the moment. That made a huge difference. Rather than trying to access or manufacture an emotion because it fit the exercise, I was able to trust my own process."

“I felt safe to explore what was there without taking on emotions that weren’t mine or leaving the event feeling activated. The whole experience felt gentle in the right places. I left feeling grounded, empowered, and more confident in using movement as a way to process emotions when they arise."

The Importance of Somatic Expression

Every day, we absorb more than our nervous systems were ever designed to hold.

The relentless connectivity to devices, devastating news and a world that feels like it's crumbling. Somehow we're expected to take it all in but the body doesn’t work like that.

What we refuse to feel doesn't disappear - it becomes emotional debt.

It quietly accumulates - shaping our relationships, our career choices, our health, our finances, our sense of aliveness, and connectedness to self and others.

The soma keeps the score long after the mind moves on.

So, where do we go to rage at the injustice without being told to calm down? Where do we go to surrender without being told to be strong? Where do we go to feel real, unperformed, embodied joy?

Soma Space is a place to feel it all. Not to fix it. Not to make sense of it. Just to let it move through us the way it was always meant to.

The body is both the instrument and the intelligence.

Your Facilitators

Co-facilitated by Kate Slaymaker & Tilly Reid - Held with care, consent and full permission to be human.

Kate Slaymaker is a Somatic and Embodiment Coach, Breathwork Facilitator and Energy Healer with years of experience holding spaces where the body gets to lead. Her work weaves together trauma-informed somatics, nervous system intelligence and a deep trust in the body's innate wisdom. She has lived this work from the inside out - and that's exactly what she brings into the room.

Tilly Reid is the founder of Open Circle, a community built around conscious connection and authentic relating. With years of experience holding events, retreats and festivals, she creates spaces where people feel genuinely seen and welcome.
