Maryam and The Oracle (Sarsha Hope) invite you to our Somatic Dance offering in Mt Eden as part of the Auckland Somatic Dance Collective - on a Saturday! This is the only Saturday dance we currently have planned for the year, so come along to experience something slightly different. We have the honour of The Oracle curating the soundscape to guide this unique offering and collaboration as Sarsha steps away from her usual home guiding with her voice, to guiding with sound. Maryam will be facilitating this dance and offering her beautiful voice to guide us all. 

Somatic Dance is a guided free form movement journey, delving deep into the layers of the body and held in a non-judgemental space where all of you is welcome. No prior dance experience is necessary and all bodies are welcome. There are no routines or steps to follow here, simply an invitation to discover how your body wishes to move. The guided facilitation is supported by a carefully curated soundscape overseen by a DJ. 

This dance is an invitation for you to come and move your body to the unique rhythm of you, supporting a deeper connection with yourself and others.

This is a space free from alcohol, shoes and talking. Let the epic music and guidance of your facilitator carry you out of your mind and into your body, allowing yourself to experience the transformative power of Somatic Dance! The music takes the form of a wave, beginning gently before building to a peak, then settling back down to land softly and slowly.

We recommend wearing clothes you are comfortable moving in (layers are great), bring along a drink bottle and a drop or two of curiosity!

Our dance spaces are designed for adults to create a space where you are able to freely explore and express your authentic self, in whichever shape and form it happens to be expressing itself. As part of this, we request that alternate arrangements are made to care for any children while you attend. If you have a child you would like to bring along, please reach out to us and we can have a chat about whether it is a possibility.

The location is: Mt Eden Village Centre, 449 Mount Eden Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1024

We welcome you at any time from 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

$20-$25 per person; cash on the door or through Humanitix 

We have adopted a two tier ticket option:

$20 supported dancers, we want to continue to make our dances accessible

$25 supporting dancers, for those who feel more abundant and are able to support us

If price is a barrier to attending, please reach out to us and we can work something out, an additional hand with tasks on the day is often appreciated.

Maryam, Somatic Dance Facilitator
Born in Canada with Syrian and Iraqi heritage, Maryam is a wellness workshop facilitator and a Somatic Dance Teacher, with international training across several holistic modalities, including reiki & sensory touch therapy, yoga, cacao circle facilitation, and sound therapy. Through her comprehensive understanding of somatic practices, she harnesses the transformative power of movement, breath, and sound to guide individuals toward inner strength and embodiment. Maryam’s expertise in creating a safe and nourishing space allows participants to embark on a profound journey of self-connection and healing.

The Oracle; Soundscape Creatrix 
Sarsha is a teacher of teachers and has over 20 years experience as a facilitator, yoga teacher, embodiment guide and ecstatic dance space holder. She has held many teacher training's, retreats and workshops here in Aotearoa and overseas and has a gift of bringing people into connection with themselves, each other and the earth. Sarsha creates brave, tender, inclusive, safe and fun spaces for our hearts to unfold, heal and embrace our most empowered soul self.
