Somatic Tune-In with MD Bloch-Hansen - October
Description
Series Overview
This season, the Somatic Tune-in Series will focus on developing a personal toolkit of resources to draw on throughout the ups and downs of our creative practices, careers, and everyday lives. Resources enhance the quality of our lives and provide what we need to meet life's challenges, find relief, or navigate uncertainty. Somatic resources reside in the body and emerge from physical experiences, sensations, movement, and mindfulness. Resources can be skills, creative practices, nature, objects, experiences, animals, and support services.
Each session will include guided somatic practices, embodied and creative exploration, reflection, and opportunities for sharing. No previous experience with somatic practices, movement, or art-making is needed. Come as you are! All practices are invitations, and you are welcome to participate in ways that feel right for you.
What to bring: Bring grounding objects or things that help you stay engaged. Bring anything to colour, draw, paint, or write with: pens, pencils, paper, pencil crayons, markers, paints, etc.
Session Focus
Session 1 will focus on three foundational somatic skills that support the nervous system and help find more ease: orienting, safety, and trust. This workshop aims to build our capacity to notice the difference between unconscious and automatic orienting and to engage in intentional, purposeful practices that give us more tools to settle and regulate our nervous systems whenever we need them.
Who Should Attend
Anyone seeking grounding or restoration through movement and body awareness, and looking to add somatic resources to their self-care toolkit. No prior experience with somatic practice is required.
We encourage participants to join with an open mind and wear comfortable, non-constricting clothing.
Important Note
Our workshops provide general information and strategies; they are not a substitute for counselling. Participation in this workshop does not constitute a therapeutic relationship. This session is a skills-based group and is not meant to be group therapy.
Accessibility
ASL interpretation, closed captions, and translated captions will be available. If you need accommodations to make this event accessible, please get in touch, and we will do our best to meet your needs.
Recording
This event will not be recorded to maintain privacy and presence during the session.

MD Bloch-Hansen
MD is a queer, gender-fluid, white settler of Italian and Danish descent, based in Tkaronto. They show up in the community as an integrative somatic therapist, performance artist, and doula. As a somatic careworker and registered social worker, they take a liberatory and justice-oriented approach that honours each person's embodied wisdom and strengths. In their private practice, MD offers holistic support for experiential and relational healing, weaving somatic practices, expressive arts, movement, and sound meditation through a lens of cultural humility. MD also works as a gender-affirming counsellor at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, supporting trans and gender diverse youth and their families navigating gender questioning and transition. MD enjoys supporting people in reconnecting with their bodies to find presence, steadiness, and creative expression as pathways to resilience and a more livable future.
