Discover Carmenere [ONLINE]

In this ‘Discover Variety’ online session, we’re exploring the mystery of Carmenere!

Carmenere is an ancient grape variety, once known as THE grape of Bordeaux from Roman times. Now nearly extinct in Europe and only used as a blending component of modern Bordeaux reds for its colour, tannin and perfume, Carmenere is now grown almost extensively in Chile.

But, this mysterious and intriguing black grape variety has a complex past and an exciting future.

So join Sommeliers Australia's Kim Bickley (Thomas Wines) and Ben Moechtar (The Certified Sommelier), and their Andean mentor, Dennis Roman (Sense at Wine), as they compare the similarities and differences between three 100% Carmenere wines from Australia and Chile.
