Event description

NEW DATE

* A Diversity & Inclusion webinar with guest speaker, Peta Hooke *

DID YOU KNOW: 4.4 million Aussies have a disability (1 in 5). This is expected to increase as our population ages.

32% of people with disabilities avoid going to restaurants & cafes, due to inaccessibility, lack of industry knowledge & staff training on how to best serve the demographic, along with the types of disability & how they present in each person.

THE QUESTION IS: Can Australian hospitality & tourism businesses afford to ignore such a large market of potential customers & staff?

We think not...

Join Sommeliers Australia’s Lisa Cardelli (Terroir Selections) and Sarah Andrew (WSET Global/Selador Wines) as they discuss inclusion and accessibility in the hospitality and tourism industries with disability advocate, Peta Hooke (I Can't Stand Podcast).

With her lived experience of Cerebral Palsy, coupled with a Master of Tourism, Peta Hooke regularly advocates for the importance of inclusion and accessibility in the tourism industry.

Peta is perfectly situated to discuss, and help us better understand, how businesses in the hospitality and tourism industries can improve their business' approach to disabled customers, and the potential of employing those with disabilities.

If you want to see more of the disabled experience it is worthwhile following Peta Hooke on Instagram or listen to her podcast.
