Dear Song Makers

Our presenter Leanne has a family emergency and is unable to attend the event this Sunday 19 January.

Now we have our booking at the lovely venue in the Edinburgh Gardens but unfortunately no Leanne! However, if you're keen, you are very welcome to join Nicki & Craig (from CMVic) for a relaxed song sharing circle and to talk about (and maybe even do some) song making in a community context.

We'll bring along some songs to share – if you'd like to join us please let us know at nicki@cmvic.org.au by 8:00pm Saturday 18/1 – and if you'd like to make a small contribution to help CMVic cover the venue cost that'd be fab!

Get the year off to a harmonious start with a fun song making session with fabulous singer/songwriter and skilled community song leader Leanne Murphy.

Leanne will guide participants through her process for creating tunes for community singing and introduce ideas and tools to support the practice.

The session will include:

• Singing and dissecting a range of easy originals for community singing in 2-4 part harmony
• Discussing why, when and how to share your own songs with your group, and what helps make this fun for everyone... including you!
• How to catch a song: solo, partner and small group exercises to get the words flowing and the songs growing
• Exploring inexpensive or free tools to help transition your ideas from single words or melody lines into actual songs, starting with good old pen and paper, as well as recording devices and notation software

No experience needed, just a desire to make music and play with words and ideas.
