Songs From The Silver Screen

Experience the magic of cinema as the Central Otago Regional Choir brings iconic movie soundtracks to life in rich choral harmony.

The concert series “Songs from the Silver Screen” spans generations of film music. The programme features timeless classics like Moon River, Singin’ in the Rain, As Time Goes By, and Cabaret, alongside modern cinematic masterpieces such as May it Be (The Lord of the Rings) and Let it Go (Frozen).

The choir is conducted by Richard Madden and accompanied by Alison Frude on piano, with Kate Lovell (double bass) and Peter Doyle (drums) bringing plenty of jazz and pizzazz to the stage.

The concert also showcases two exceptional, award-winning young music students, soprano Ameera Woods who will enchant the audience with carefully chosen songs and Ozan Biner-McGrath (piano) who will perform virtuoso pieces by Rachmaninoff and Chopin.
