Sonic Volley: Going with the Flow
November Sonic Volley
Step inside the musicians’ circle and experience songs the way they were meant to be heard: straight from the writers themselves. This month’s Sonic Volley brings together award-winning and beloved artists and singer-songwriters Davey O., Steve and Terri Massardo, Amy Soucy, and Kate Prascher for an intimate evening of music and storytelling. Sonic Volley is a songwriters-in-the-round platform with a twist, where each artist shares a song, then “volleys” a thread of it into the circle - be it a lyric, a theme, a melody, or a feeling - which the next artist receives and carries into their own piece. In this way, the songs connect, weaving the evening into a coherent tapestry.
Performer Bios
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Davey O. from Amherst, NY, makes the ordinary feel extraordinary in his folk-and country-based songs. Accolades include New Folk Finalist - 2013 Kerrville Folk Festival, 2015 Mid Atlantic Song Contest finalist, 2016 & 2017 Nominee - SAMF Jim Lauderdale Songwriter of the Year Award. Davey releases new music in a digital-only format via The Share Project; all download proceeds are donated to his local food bank, FeedMore WNY. His latest album is Some Days (2023).
Kate Prascher is a songwriter with a haunting sound and clear vision from Memphis, TN now based in the Hudson Valley. For her, songs are a chance to say things that don’t make it into polite conversation. Songwriting allows her to say the quiet parts loud and loud parts quietly. Her most recent album is Sunday Afternoon (2026).
Steve & Terri Massardo have been integral parts of the Hudson Valley music scene for decades, having started the John Street Jam in 2004. They have spent more time lately writing and performing their original songs which are an eclectic, genre-bending blend of the personal and the universal.
Amy Soucy is a Beacon, NY-based contemporary folk chanteuse who writes evocative songs exploring the kaleidoscope of human experience. Her impressionistic, dream-like songs, and powerful, angelic voice won her a coveted spot in the Emerging Artist Showcase at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, as well as first prize in the 2017 CT Folk Songwriting Competition. SE performs with two award-winning groups: the message-driven, harmony-licious folk trio Us! and the Ameri-clecti-cana Hudson Valley super group, The Downside Up. Amy's next album, Skeleton Key, drops in 2027.
