Poet in Residence - Sonnets and Soundscapes Workshops
Event description
Louis Bullock is an experimental/electronic ambient artist and poet. During the ‘Sonnets and Soundscapes’ residency he will interweave an interest in poetry/lyrics and soundscapes. This project aims to use community input as a means of material of the greater total result.
During the workshops, participants will listen to curated soundscapes designed to evoke various emotions and spark inspiration. Each session will feature different original compositions that create an inviting atmosphere for introspection and creativity.
Participants will be encouraged to write or record poetry, or other written works, in response to the music. Louis will provide guidance and prompts, fostering a supportive environment for all skill levels. At the end of the workshops, participants who want to may share their works with the group and have the option to be recorded and contribute to Louis’ final residency piece.
Louis Bullock works in a multidisciplinary manner across intersections of sound, design and art. He creates textural ambient music that explores ideas of repetition, digital and analogue loop techniques, timbre, and, most particularly, detail. His notable project ‘Value Streams’ (2020) brings together a set of commentaries surrounding self-defined values-based living.
The workshops will be one hour long, with the option to go on longer if needed for experimentation.
