Sorry Day Smoking Ceremony and Morning Tea
Event description
You are warmly invited to join us for a Sorry Day Smoking Ceremony with Aunty Robyn Collard on Monday 26 May at 10.30am at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies.
Sorry Day marks the anniversary of the tabling of the Bringing Them Home report in the Australian Parliament in 1997 and commemorates Stolen Generations survivors. The report was a landmark truth telling process, sadly almost 30 years on a number of the report’s 54 recommendations remain unmet.
This is a time for reflection, healing, and recognition of the strength of Stolen Generations survivors. This ceremony offers our Curtin community an opportunity to come together in respect and solidarity as we acknowledge the past and walk towards a more inclusive future.
After the ceremony, we invite you to have a feed, cuppa and yarn with us inside the Centre for Aboriginal Studies Building 211.
Please RSVP for catering purposes.
We look forward to hosting you at the engagement.
With Regards,
The Centre for Aboriginal Studies
