Event description

Sleep, eat, code, repeat. In our intensive three-day Game Jam, you’re invited to fully immerse yourself in digital games development and unleash your creativity. Work in a team or independently alongside fellow developers to rapidly build a game from scratch. You'll be joined by industry mentors and a mental health first aid officer to help support you!

Friday 28 – Sunday 30 March (Check-in from 10am Friday, 4pm Sunday end)
Alexandra Park Conference Centre, 13 Mari St, Alexandra Headland

$20 registration fee per person, which includes a Season of the Dev t-shirt, all catering and accommodation for the duration of the Game Jam. Each team member must register individually.

Accommodation will be shared quad or twin style bungalows with ensuites at Alexandra Park Conference Centre.
Wifi, powerpoints, chairs and tables will be available to work with. Participants will be required to bring their own computers/laptops, any specific consoles, or development equipment needed.

Registrations close 16 March and all applicants will be notified of participation by 17 March via email from Essential Screen Skills.

Registrations will be reviewed by Essential Screen Skills and Screen Queensland who have the right to confirm and/or withdraw applicants. If withdrawn the registration fee will be refunded. This activity is for 18+ ages (high school students are not eligible) and you will be required to answer a series of questions at checkout to assess suitability for this event. Preference will be given to Sunshine Coast based game devs but we highly encourage registrations from Queensland and interstate participants who are willing to make their own way to the Sunshine Coast.

By registering I acknowledge the following terms and conditions for participation: 

  • I will provide at least 7 days notice in writing of any withdrawal or changes to my participation in this Game Jam, otherwise a non-participation fee of $100 may be charged by Essential Screen Skills to reimburse non-recoverable program costs such as food and accommodation.
  • While attending the Season of the Dev Game Jam and its activities, I will participate in this program and the activities to the best of my ability, conduct myself professionally, and follow all reasonable directives, rules and laws for the duration of the activity. Screen Queensland or Essential Screen Skills may remove you from the program without notice if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that you are guilty of serious misconduct.
  • The safety and wellbeing of all participants, including program staff, is the organiser's top priority. Any behaviour or action that jeopardizes the safety of others will not be tolerated, including harassment, bullying or abuse.
  • Participants must treat all people equitably and not engage in behaviours that may cause offense, distress, or intimidation to one another.
  • Participants are responsible for their own property, health and safety and the property, health and safety of others where their actions are concerned. For your safety, do not take risks with your own health and safety or expose yourself to unnecessary risks. Follow instructions or warnings given by organisers where they relate to your safety.
  • Please carry a high standard of personal hygiene as you will be working and mingling in close proximity to fellow participants, industry professionals and stakeholders.
  • Participants must be mindful of their online presence and ensure that their social media activity and other online behaviour respect the confidentiality and privacy of all program participants and organisers.
  • You may, in the course of the program or in connection therewith, receive or otherwise have access to intellectual property relating to projects owned by or licensed to Screen Queensland or a Contributor. Anything you create using another IP owner’s protected materials, including without limitation, training guides, ideas, suggestions, themes, plots, stories, characters, derivatives and extracts, may only be used for the purposes of the program. Any intellectual property created by you not based on or related to protected materials will remain your intellectual property. If you are collaborating within a team, new or established, it is your responsibility to confirm rights ownership arrangements.
  • Participants must not engage in any illegal, unethical, or immoral conduct, including but not limited to substance abuse, theft, or vandalism. There will be no alcohol consumption during the Game Jam.
  • There may be photography, video recorded and/or audio recorded by Essential Screen Skills, Screen Queensland, Jobs Queensland and their representative staff during the program. Essential Screen Skills and partners will have the right to use my name, photograph, image, audio recording and/or video recording and likeness for promotional, educational and other reasonable purposes.
  • Any non-compliance with these terms and conditions may result in immediate departure from the program activities and site.
  • Any concerns or complaints regarding the program, staff, or fellow participants must be reported to program staff immediately.
  • Registration information will be shared with Screen Queensland and Jobs Queensland to assist with the delivery of future projects.
