Event description

Soul Kitchen Choir Series

Where singing is the main ingredient!

Tilly Kay brings versatility and joy to the craft, reading the room and tailoring parts to suit your capacity. Her choir workshops strike the balance of play over perfection, whilst still learning new singing skills and techniques.

Over and over Tilly has witnessed the way a room full of voices can tune and carry each other. You better believe she believes in You!

This workshop we’ll be learning songs from Tanya Ransom’s latest album “The Significance Of Time’.

This is a profound piece of songwriting which lends itself incredibly well to be sung as a choir.

During the workshop Tanya Ransom and Tilly Kay will be joined by Sammy Liddon on double bass.

Together as a team they’ll be creating a rich musical backdrop, for us all to lean in to.

Soul Kitchen is born from the idea that singing in a sea of voices is a great strategy for mental health. This choir workshop is for Everyone.

No experience necessary.

Bio - Tilly Kay

Tilly Kay’s velvet vocal pairs with the rhythmic riffs of Sam Liddon on double and electric bass, bringing a groove that is both sinuous and spacious. Experienced songwriters both in the studio and onstage, these two are often found performing with other West Australian artists. With a festival repertoire of Nannup Music Festival, Denmark Festival of Voice, Nanga Music Festival and Dunsborough Jazz Festival, the duo’s recent songwriting is steeped in a mutual love of soul and funk, drawing audiences in by the heart and soul of their songs.

Bio - Tanya Ransom
Tanya Ransom’s signature sound of folk blues and alt country pulls heavy on the heartstrings. Her powerful vocals inhabit the sweet spot between tough and tender, effortlessly accompanied by her laid-back rhythm guitar. A product of her musical upbringing, having lived 20 years in the remote northwest town of Broome, Ransom’s ability to connect with audiences is undeniable as she paints a vivid narrative that will leave you attached to her raw emotion and storytelling through song.
