Event description

Recording your music is an exciting part of bringing your creative vision to life. In this practical masterclass, we’ll explore the pros and cons of recording at home versus in a studio, and introduce hybrid recording as a flexible and affordable approach.

Learn about the tools you need to confidently record at home and how to strategically involve professional engineers and producers at key stages to create a recording that fits your style, budget, and goals.

Working with songwriter, producer, recording and mixing engineer Timothy McArtney, you’ll get:

  • Tips, tricks and techniques to save time and build your confidence to record at home
  • Insight on how to navigate key relationships between songwriters, producers and engineers for a smoother, more efficient process
  • Guidance on creating professional-sounding tracks by balancing DIY recording with expert input

Timothy recently co-produced, recorded and mixed the Hockey Dad album Rebuild, Repeat (Triple J feature & ARIA #2) and has worked with artists like Gang of Youths, Thelma Plum, Jarryd James, Hoodoo Gurus, Julia Stone, Rose Tattoo and Briggs.

Whether you’re just starting out or already have some recording experience, this session will set you up to make the most of your next recording project.
