Event description

Rebalance after a long week with a relaxing sound bath meditation, nestled in a peaceful grove of bay trees. As the beautiful surroundings and gentle tones help release the stress that's been building within you, you'll reconnect with what matters most through reflection, journaling, and sharing with a supportive group.

We'll gather at the Alhambra Creek Trailhead in Briones Regional Park at 9:30am on Saturday, taking an easy 10-minute walk together up a gravel road to our special grove. There, Hannah Knapp will offer reflection prompts for you to ponder and journal about. Then, Dominika Pcion will play soothing singing or sound bowls and chimes to send you into a deeply relaxed state. At the end, you'll be invited to reflect again, and share with the group.

As fall begins, this morning is an invitation to transition from one season to the next with intention. Together, we'll honor the shortening days and changing schedules that September brings with inspiring words, rich musical tones, and peaceful moments of quiet. You'll leave refreshed and ready for whatever your autumn holds.

What's A Sound Bath?

Our bodies recognize sound as a universal language. Not only can we hear sound but we can also experience it physically and emotionally.  As a result of this relationship, sound can have a significant impact on our bodies and minds. Combinations of certain frequencies can put us into the parasympathetic state, where relaxation and regeneration take place. In those moments, our body can focus on bringing itself back to equilibrium.

Come see for yourself! In this 90-minute event, you'll be taken on a journey of relaxation and reflection through both sound and nature. Before you soak in the tones played on bowls and chimes, we'll take a meditative walk on a gravel road through the rolling yellow hills of Briones Regional Park to help you tune into the present moment. No prior experience with sound baths or meditation is needed, only a willingness to open yourself to the experience.

This is the perfect way to reset as you go into the weekend. Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes, and bring a portable chair or outdoor blanket to sit or lie on in the grove. We'll have a small cart to help carry items from the trailhead.

Meet Your Hosts

Dominika Pcion

Sound healer Dominika Pcion will play sound or singing bowls and chimes

Domi has always been drawn to sound: be it listening to music, playing instruments or birdsong.  Sound bowls have been a part of her life for the last 20 years, as an individual meditation practice and community offering.  Each session is its own unfolding and creates space for us to open to the present moment.

Hannah Knapp

WITHIN Meditation Cofounder Hannah Knapp will offer guided meditation as part of the event.

Hannah has been meditating since 2012, when she dove in head-first with a 10-day Vipassana retreat. It was during that retreat that she realized she was ready for the adventure of pregnancy and parenting. Coming out of that experience, she knew she needed a community to practice with: there was just nothing like meditating with other people. Her passion for sharing the power of mindfulness has led her to launch (and lead) group meditations wherever she’s worked, and to start WITHIN Meditation.

Through mindfulness, she’s developed a deep resilience, focus, and capacity to love that she draws on every day, both as the mom of two children and as a start-up founder. She’s delighted to be leading meditation sessions in our online studio and in companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and across the country, while building an amazing team of teachers at WITHIN.

What to Bring & What to Wear

Plan to arrive a few minutes early at the trailhead so we can all walk together at 9:30am. Dress comfortably, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a journal as well as a portable chair or outdoor blanket to have underneath you in the grove. The ground is covered in bay leaves, so it smells lovely but you will want some padding for sitting or lying down.

We're looking forward to unwinding and reconnecting with you!
