Event description

On Saturday, November 23rd, The Music Box Project invites you to Sound Picnic—a unique musical experience exploring the stories and spaces of The Coal Loader.

Sydney Harbour’s foreshore is home to spaces that intrigue, those that delight, and those that become part of our everyday lives. When do we stop and listen to these spaces? How do the stories shape our relationship with the place, and with the harbour as a whole?

Join the ensemble for a sonic exploration of the site, drawing on individual and collective experiences of creating music in this unique place. Over the course of an hour, be prepared to move around with the ensemble as they create a performance specifically for the space and day.

Sydney-based The Music Box Project is an award-winning, artist-run collective of musicians presenting creative, community driven and collaborative music experiences. The collective’s core members are Jane Aubourg, Elizabeth Jigalin, Naomi Johnson, Peter Leung and Joseph Lisk.

Book in for one of two performances on the day at 11am or 2pm.  FREE but limited tickets.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen as the performance moves around the Coal Loader site.

Supported by a North Sydney Council's Creative Grants Program
