    Event description

Find other hard of hearing and D/deaf people to have enjoyable, meaningful conversations with, online.

This is a public event for people who are interested in discussing what it’s like to live with hearing conditions.

Soundfair is dedicated to providing friendly, safe spaces for social connection and support for people living with hearing conditions, and their friends and family. At our Socials, we facilitate small groups to discuss topics according to your interests.

    How does it work?

When you RSVP, we will ask you what questions or topics you’d like to chat about during the session. We will take this feedback on board to structure the conversations on the night.

Once you’ve logged on to the event, we’ll explain the logistics and then break into groups of about five people to discuss the topics of your choice. After you've been in that group for about half an hour, we'll take a break, and then put you in with a second group of people, also for about half an hour.

At the end of the Social, if you've connected with someone and would like to offer to share your details, let us know. We have a safe, easy, and totally optional way for you to do that.

The event will be held online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, depending on the number of attendees.

    Accessibility

    Closed captions will be provided.

We can arrange an Auslan interpreter upon request. However, please be mindful that Auslan interpreters are in high demand, so only request one if Auslan interpretation is an accessibility requirement for you and if you are 100% certain you will be attending the event.

We need two weeks notice to arrange interpretation, so please make sure to book ASAP.
