Long before freedom movements took shape, people found ways to sing, speak, and create in the face of struggle. Rooted in spirituals, praise traditions, chants, and songs of resilience, these sounds became part of a musical lineage that continues to inspire generations.

This February, Hued Songs invites audiences of all ages to experience Past, Present & Forward: A Journey in Song—a powerful live performance tracing the sounds, stories, and spirit of American music across time.

Featuring four cast members and three instrumentalists, the performance moves through song and sound, illuminating the artists, figures, histories, and movements that have shaped our collective musical landscape. From the echoes of the past to the voices of today and the possibilities of tomorrow, this is more than a concert—it is a journey through resilience, remembrance, and hope.
