Sounds of Hope: Artists for Australian Democracy
Event description
In the lead-up to this federal election, Artists for Australian Democracy are banding together in an effort to counteract the 'dismantle democracy' message resonating from the USA. By presenting a special concert of music, spoken word and dance titled, “Democracy day: Sounds of Hope” to be held at Crystal Waters Eco Village Saturday, April 26th.
The line-up includes; The Spirits, Linsey Pollak, The Charles Camillieri Connection, Noel Gardner and the Party Faithful, Yoav and Friends, Murray Wall and Natalie Richy, Rubatuba, and Hinterland Daybreakers, with Ian Mackay as guest MC.
The main aim of this event is to create awareness and encourage Australian voters to better scrutinise their preferred candidates position on basic human rights before casting their vote.
Do they support Equality?
Will they stand up against oppression?
Are they actively supporting diversity?
Is a rapid shift to clean energy and 100% renewables a top priority?
Are they listening to First Nations voices?
Will they make real climate action a top priority?
We are planning for an afternoon and evening of wonderful, good-vibe music, food, bar and fires with a festival atmosphere, to celebrate this country and her continuing commitment to defending our democracy and our precious sovereignty.
These fantastic performers are all donating their time for our cause, and the event is not for profit with all surplus funds going to local charities Welcome to Maleny Refugee Group and Maleny Neighbourhood Centre.
