Soup it Up! Puerto Rican Soups and Stews

A Soups and Stews with Jose of Boricua of the Midwest!
1. Sancocho is A root vegetable soup with rice or noodles. A great soup to use up all of the vegetables in your house. 
2. Pastel Stew.  A weeknight soup version of a Puerto Rican holiday staple. Pasteles is traditionally a plantain-based Puerto Rican tamale. This version takes a 10-hour process of making pastels to a fraction of the time! 
3. Chicken Fricasse Fricase de Pollo Taking a French culinary technique and using it in rural parts of Puerto Rico, Fricase de pollo is a chicken soup with braised chicken in wine. This hearty peasant stew with potatoes and carrots is served with white rice.
