Plaisir Wine Estate (formerly Plaisir de Merle) is an historic farm nestled in the slopes of the Simonsberg between Paarl and Franschhoek in the Simonsberg-Paarl appellation. Established by French Huguenots in the late 1600's, it has more than 300 years of winemaking heritage and today has more than 230 ha under vine, planted with varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
Now owned by Michael and Rose Jordaan, the estate is known for its breathtakingly beautiful mountain setting, decomposed granite soils and commitment to preserving indigenous flora and fauna, producing internationally acclaimed reds and whites that reflect this unique terroir.
