Boosting reproductive performance to lift whole herd productivity.
This practical workshop is designed to help southern Australian beef producers improve breeder herd performance through better data use, targeted heifer development, and strategic joining management.
Delivered by Prof. Wayne Pitchford and drawing on key industry projects, the session introduces the new More Beef from Pastures (MBfP) Maternal Productivity project and explores practical ways producers can reduce
reproductive losses and improve whole herd performance.
Key Workshop Features:
Learn how to identify and reduce reproductive losses, particularly in heifers
Understand the long-term value of early conception and calving
Explore key drivers of fertility, body weight, condition scores, joining length, and timing
Participate in practical yard-based activities: weighing heifers and or cows, body condition, scoring, and calculating growth targets
Access to take home tools including body condition score and heifer joining targets guides
Get involved in the MBfP project through data collection and local producer groups
