Space Exploration: Research & Commercialisation Opportunities in Space

This event has passed Register

Event description

Space exploration is no longer a venture for the happy few. Access to space is increasing, Australia has strong public and private support, and the opportunities to participate and contribute are on the rise.

The Exploration Company and Stone & Chalk invite you to join us on an exploratory journey into the commercial and research activities in space, as we’re joined by distinguished guests from the Australian Space Agency, Main Sequence Ventures and Swinburne University of Technology.

Learn how access to space is set to transform our commercial landscape for both the space and non-space sectors, and gain first-hand understandings from those who are pioneering microgravity research to advance industries from medicine to manufacturing and everything in between. Importantly, understand how your organization can participate in this new era of space exploration - affordably and sustainably.

The Program:

  1. The Future of Space Exploration
Presented by Hélène Huby, Co-Founder & CEO of The Exploration Company
  2. Commercial & Research Opportunities in Space
Presented by Aude Vignelles, Chief Technology Officer at the Australian Space Agency
  3. From Immunology to Robotics and Manufacturing: The Changing Landscape of Space
Conversation between Aude Vignelles, Chief Technology Officer at the Australian Space Agency; Martin Duursma, General Partner of Main Sequence Ventures and Dr Rebecca Allen, Microgravity Experimentation Program Lead at Swinburne University of Technology.
Facilitated by Christian Thaler-Wolski of Stone & Chalk.
  4. Nyx: Enabling Access to Space
Presented by Hélène Huby, Co-Founder & CEO of The Exploration Company

Date: Wednesday, 27 July 2022
Time: 5:00-6:00pm AEST (Sydney, Melbourne)
Format: Online via Zoom (please register)

The Exploration Company's mission is to democratize space exploration, making it affordable, sustainable and open to a new generation of both space and non-space companies and people.
The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a reusable and modular spacecraft which will provide partners with affordable access to Low Earth Orbit and the Moon for experimentation, in-orbit demonstration, transportation and other activities. In 2024, The Exploration Company will embark on our demonstration flight - 'Mission Possible' - and shall carry 300kg of payload into space for three hours, with the purpose of learning and experimenting with our pioneering partners. Starting in 2026, we will offer six-month missions in high microgravity.
