Meet Warren Hui, General Partner - APAC, Type One Ventures
Raised in Australia, Warren Hui was inspired early by his father, a successful electrical engineer and entrepreneur whose work sparked his interest in technology and innovation. His fascination with Star Wars and films about AI, space, and robotics grew, setting the foundation for a lifelong passion for investing and creating.
At just 15, Warren launched his first startup—a travel blogging website with auto-translation tools—that went on to raise a seed round. After earning a BA from USC, he began his finance career at Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division, specializing in IPOs, M&A, and capital raising for Asia Pacific corporations. Later, as co-founder of Soul Ventures, he led investments in growth-stage tech companies, including Epic Games and Reddit.
Today, Warren leads investments at Type One Ventures, believing AI will transform our lives and work. With a value-chain approach, he looks for opportunities across the AI landscape—from infrastructure applications—and has directed investments in transformative companies like Open AI, xAI, Anthropic, and Neuralink.
