Event description

Survivors often choose to seek the help and support of family and friends before calling the police or engaging services. This is especially true in communities that have experience racism, colonisation and other forms of oppression. How kin responds to a survivors' outreach can make the difference between safety or increased isolation and entrapment for survivors.  To help the helpers, the Safe & Together Institute has produced a guide to support allies in the role they want to play: to be a source of support and safety for their loved ones. This tool can be used with or without professional support.

SPARK (Speakers Provoking Action, Reflection and Knowledge) webinars connect practitioners with the latest, research and current thinking. Sometimes they may be provocative, but they will always promote knowledge sharing across the sector and create a space for reflecting, thinking and talking about practice.  This webinar, will provide an overview of the ally guide, how to access it and how to use it in your work with families.
