Description

We’re excited to welcome back Adelaide-based rigger and educator Nawashi Supaku (Sparks) to Perth for a weekend of intensive workshops.

Register Your Interest - Social Volume Pricing

Want to join us for this workshop? Purchase a $50 Reservation Ticket for each workshop you intend to attend.

We're using social volume pricing, which means the more people who register for each workshop, the lower the final ticket price will be for everyone.

Registration period: October 10th - November 10th

The final price for each workshop will be determined by the number of registrations received during the registration period. More registrations mean a lower price per person, to help make these workshops more accessible for everyone.

How it works:

  1. Purchase a $50 Reservation Ticket for each workshop you plan to attend.

  2. Once registrations close, we'll confirm the final price for each workshop based on attendee numbers.

  3. We'll share the final pricing and next steps with everyone who has registered.

Final workshop pricing

  • 3-hour workshops (Friday & Saturday): between $90-$160

  • 6-hour workshop (Sunday): between $180-$320

Final pricing will be determined by November 11th.

Saturday: Rope for Photography

In collaboration with @sftfcs

7pm-10pm

Tickets are per person.

Focus: Tying for the camera, photography, lighting, composition and safety

A deep dive into the intersection of shibari and photography with Sparks and Ryan (@sftfcs); from creating a tie that looks good on camera to actually taking the photograph.

Explore how to approach rope with the final image in mind, including composition, angles, positioning, lighting and working with your model. The workshop will also cover the safety considerations that come with creating photographic rope work, including how the demands of a photograph can affect your tying choices.

Open to all skill levels. Whether you’re a rigger, model, photographer, or simply interested in creating better images of your rope, there’s something here for you.

What to bring: Nothing, just yourself!

Workshop Schedule:

Friday 27/11:

6:30pm-9pm - Bamboo Floor Predicaments

Saturday 28/11:

10am-1pm - Path to Partials

2pm-5pm - Playful Partials

Sunday 29/11:

About Sparks:

Sparks is the owner of Shibari Adelaide, an Adelaide-based rope studio offering classes, workshops, performances and private tuition. He is a certified teacher in the Kanna-ryū style, having studied under Akechi Kanna in Japan, alongside extensive training and practice both in Australia and internationally.

His approach to rope places a strong emphasis on adaptability, intention, communication and connection. Coming to shibari through the BDSM world, Sparks sees rope as a tool for play and exploration, with particular interests in intimacy, connection and sadistic rope. His teaching focuses on understanding the principles behind a tie and adapting them to the people involved, rather than treating rope as a one-size-fits-all practice.

Across the weekend, Sparks will explore floor-based rope, predicament ties, partial suspension, playful rope, photography and advanced practice, with workshops catering to a range of experience levels.
