    Event description

Are you an international student in Darwin (or their partner/family member)?

Join us for a FREE information session on your rights and support options in Australia!

In Australia, you have rights around important parts of your life, like work and marriage/relationships. No matter where you come from or how long you've been here, you are protected from all types of unfair treatment, abuse, harassment and exploitation. Come along to learn about your rights and protections, what to do if there is a problem, and how to get support.

We will especially talk about modern slavery, which happens when someone’s freedom is taken away through force, control or being tricked. It can happen in the workplace or even at home, but through this event, we will teach you how to spot it and where to get help.

The event starts at 4:00pm, when you can walk around to meet different support services, pick up free resources, and get some food and drinks. The information session will begin at 5:00pm and run for 1 hour.

    Who is this event for?

This event is for international students (both current and former). If you are the partner or family member of an international student, you are also welcome to attend.

      • What modern slavery is, how to spot it, and what to do if you come across it
      • Support services you can access
      • How to help friends and family get support

      What will you get?
      • Free posters, flyers and other resources
