Speak with Conviction: How to Own Your Words & Make them Count.
Event description
Speak with Conviction
How to Own Your Words & Make them Count.
Contrary to opinion, it doesn’t always matter exactly what you say. But it does matter that people feel you mean what you say.
Sure, words matter, but truth matters more.
---
Let’s say you’re speaking at a work meeting, a business forum, a conference, a social gathering: when you speak with conviction impact happens, change happens, and progress happens.
---
But, getting hyper-fixated on precise words, perfect tone & clarity in speaking, robs us of the natural elements of passion, empathy and quiet authority. Of course, there are useful techniques to illuminate and carry a message, but really that comes later.
We see this firsthand every time we run this workshop.
One particular woman comes to mind.
She presented us a 3-minute talk for feedback, but she just wasn’t connected to it at all. With great bravery she allowed us to scrap her notes, and then ask her to dig in. To tell us what she really means. With her eyes glancing down, she paused, and then spoke with a quiet fury and conviction that left us and the rest room in tears and speechless. It stays with us, even now.
We must ‘learn what we mean’ and then ‘learn how to express that meaning’. In our own style, in our own way so that the words are felt and received. Otherwise, why are we speaking?
Speaking is far less about ‘me’ than it is about ‘us’.
If we forget that, we are speaking for the wrong reasons.
But we need to believe ourselves to be believable.
In this exclusive workshop you’ll explore two major things.
How you talk to yourself internally, overcome any personal barriers, so you own your words & connect deeply to your true voice.
How to best express yourself, your way, so that when your words are heard, they are valued,
legitimised and acted upon.
In this workshop together, we’ll break down 4 important fundamental concepts to mean what you say:
- What is your core message? Why you? Why now? Why should anyone listen?
- What is the deepest truth that you know you need to communicate?
- How to position and frame yourself online and in a room that builds trust.
- 4 Voices of Presence that captivates and hold the attention of an audience.
HUMANITY OF SPEAKING
This workshop explores the deep theory about:
Why we deflect, seize up, stay small when we speak. The deep barrage of what it is to be human and why we feel so exposed when we speak one to many.
How to walk through the barriers of fear and judgement.
PRACTICALLY SPEAKING
Then we get practical! We teach you strategies to communication and use your influence through:
- Visual and vocal presence that builds trust, attention and engagement.
- 5 powerful openers (how you start is everything).
REALITY OF SPEAKING
But really, the rubber hits the road when we spend time giving feedback to a few brave participants who are willing to give a 3-minute talk and learn and get realtime live feedback from us – it’s the most important and transformative part of the session.
So.
Be ready to go deep.
If you do, you’ll change and then have the ability to change others.
We see it every - single - time.

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATORS
Mo MacRae is an esteemed film director and writer. He has coached and directed people on screen and stage for more than 20 years. He garners the moments that matter, and then directs people to their best expression. Now, as an on-camera-coach, many people after being directed by Mo, talk about his ability to help them be themselves, in ways that feel both safe and bold. He gets to the crux of the messages people want to share, finds the words, finds their style, and then enables the very best techniques to engage any audience. Speaking on camera and stage requires different communication techniques.
Suzanne Waldron is a behaviourist and reaches into the hearts and souls of people and draws out the very essence of a person’s ability to understand what they want and mean in the world. She may be a no-nonsense, straight-talking woman, but her compassion and passion for truth calls people to their best. When touched by her skillset, people rise to a place they didn’t realise they could. She’s also a former curator of TEDx and has incredible experience on the stage as a seasoned human rights and ethical leadership speaker.
Between them they’ve coached and directed thousands of people spanning 25+ years, including movie stars, politicians, entrepreneurs, Olympians, human rights advocates, refugees, MP’s, CEO’s, NFP leaders and global expert voices.
