Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East presents: “Move, Play & Connect” – An All-Abilities Sport and Games Community Gathering

Join us for a vibrant day of fun, activity, and connection at the Move, Play & Connect community gathering! This inclusive event is designed to bring together individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism, of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, celebrating the joy of sport and fostering meaningful connections.

Event Details:

• Date: Saturday, 1st March 2025
• Location: Tom Kelly Athletics Track, 125a George St, Doncaster East VIC
• Times:
  • Arrival from 1:00 pm (please do not arrive before 1pm)
  • Event Start: 1:30 pm
  • Event Finish: 4:00 pm
• Cost: FREE!

About the Event: This gathering welcomes people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism, their families, friends and our dedicated volunteers from across our 11 sporting disciplines. It’s an open invitation for the broader community to explore our programs, participate in all-abilities sports activities, and connect in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Activities: Enjoy a variety of sports-themed activities and game stations, designed to engage participants of all ages and abilities. This interactive setting is perfect for exploring new sports, making new friends, and celebrating the power of inclusion through sport and recreation.

Food and Beverage: Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages. A canteen will be open on-site with various options available for purchase. Please note that no alcohol will be permitted on the premises.

What to Wear:

• Special Olympics members: Please wear your club top and what else you would normally wear to sports training.
• Non-members: Comfortable, active clothing is recommended, along with sneakers.
• SunSmart: Don't forget to wear a hat and bring sunscreen. Sunscreen will also be available on-site.

Weather: As this event will be held outdoors with minimal shelter, please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. In the event of severe adverse weather conditions, we will notify attendees of any cancellations with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Accessibility: We are committed to ensuring accessibility for all attendees. Please inform us of any specific requirements when you complete your registration.

Safety: All children and activity participants must be under the care and supervision of a responsible parent or carer.
