About Special Olympics

Special Olympics Australia is part of a global movement using sport to create inclusion and opportunities for people with intellectual disability and/or autism.

Special Olympics WA provides regular sports training where athletes can get active, develop skills, build confidence, make friends and become part of a welcoming sporting community.

What is a Special Olympics Sports Training Program?

This program is designed for people with intellectual disability and/or autism.

Sessions focus on learning and practising sport skills in a supportive environment. Programs are suitable for different ability levels, including people trying the sport for the first time and athletes working towards competition.

Competition is not required. Opportunities to compete may vary depending on the sport, location and available events. Special Olympics offers pathways from local participation through to higher-level competitions for athletes who are interested and ready.
