Speed Freaks Run for a Reason 2026 - TĀMAKI MAKAURAU | AUCKLAND

Run it, jog it, walk it, dance it!

We're inviting the Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland community to come together for Run for a Reason on Sunday 8 November 🩵

Speed Freaks and our supporters are working to challenge the stigma surrounding addiction while creating space for courageous conversations about mental health, recovery, and community wellbeing.

Run for a Reason continues this kaupapa by inviting our community to move alongside us as we celebrate those making brave changes in their lives, support those still struggling, and honour the memory of loved ones who have died through addiction or by suicide.

Taking place at Lovelock Track, participants can complete as many laps of the 400m track as they wish within a 90-minute period. Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual jogger, or prefer a walk and a chat, everyone is welcome to take part in a way that feels right for them.

Participants will also be invited to write the name of a loved one on their bib instead of their own, recognising their journey and making their story part of the day.

As always, Speed Freaks will bring the fun and positive vibes, including:

🕺 Creative dress-ups
🎨 Face painting
🎁 Awesome spot prizes

Prizes will also be awarded for the best runcing moves and the best individual and collective dress-ups! 🙌

Every dollar raised will support the ongoing mahi of Speed Freaks, including helping participants take part in local and national events and providing our iconic Speed Freaks t-shirts, earned through commitment to weekly running and walking.

Whether you're running for yourself, a loved one, or simply to show your support, we'd love to have you with us!

📍 Lovelock Track, Mt Roskill War Memorial Park, Sandringham Road, Wesley

⏰ Check-in and registration open from 9am; briefing and warm-up from 9.45am

🏃🏼‍♀️ First lap from 10am 🏃🏼‍♂️ Final lap by 11.30am

Wheelchair, walking frames and stroller friendly (no scooters, bikes or dogs please)

➡️ General admission: $23 pre-registered / $30 on the day

➡️ Speed Freaks admission: $13 pre-registered / $20 on the day (must own and wear your Speed Freaks t-shirt)

➡️ 16 & under: Free

No refunds – the event will go ahead come rain or shine!
