Event description

ABOUT US: This online line event is sponsored by the Nan Tien 2030 Campaign which was inspired by the calling in our hearts to see healing around the planet.

With a focus of practice, we have expert speakers and group discussion format to set our course and encourage getting into action. We allow ourselves time and space to make a change over two months with one topic. The first month with a spiritual emphasis followed by the environmental next month.

We are now exploring "Spiritual & Household Detox
"
Over the course of two months - Saturday 3rd of October and Saturday 7th November - our two guest speakers, Dr Nadine Levy and Mr Tom Halbert
, will discuss how we can cleanse our our spiritual energy end immediate environment. The goal of these workshops are to bring positivity to both ourselves and environment, which inevitably leads to a domino effect bringing benefit to others!

ABOUT OUR FIRST WORKSHOP - SAT OCT 3

Spiritual Detox
with Dr Nadine Levy,
PhD (University of Adelaide), BA (Hons) (University of Adelaide), LLB (Hons) (University of Adelaide)

Due to these trying times many of us are facing anxiety, as well as moments of deep sadness and hopelessness. The pandemic, climate change, injustice and wide-spread economic uncertainty have led to a type of collective dis-ease and fear of things to come.

From a Buddhist point of view, becoming aware of and investigating our mind-states, and body energies, can help us let go of unskillful patterns of rumination and ways of relating to ourselves and the world around us. Through our Buddhist practice we can learn to “let go” of what poisons us and detox our minds and hearts.

This talk will suggest that these difficult times offer us the perfect opportunity to build our capacity for awareness, investigation and compassion. As well, it will highlight the importance of joy and gratitude in maintaining wellbeing and equanimity as we collectively face this troubling historic moment.

*** Dr Levy holds a PhD in sociology and Honours degrees in both law and gender studies. Her research investigates women’s lived experience across a range of social sites, including health, therapeutic landscapes and spiritual movements. Her PhD examined the themes of belonging, emotions and social connection in the context of Intentional Communities in late modern society.

Nadine teaches and researches in mindfulness and compassion at NTI and is a long-term Buddhist. Her research is concerned with community and healing.

*** Alongside working as a Business Analyst, Tom’s passion is exploring the ways in which we can achieve environmental sustainability.

To learn more about how he could positively contribute, Tom decided to
pursue his Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development at Murdoch
University. He graduated in 2014 with a deeper understanding of what
individuals, businesses and governments could do to better manage
resources and utilise greener technologies.

Since then, Tom has used his knowledge to instigate many community led
initiatives such as 'Spiritual & Environmental Preservation
Practice' and 'Nan Tien's 2030 Campaign' which aligns with the United
Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's). These are often
coupled with mindfulness based learning and sharing practices such as
Deep Listening.

Tom asks us the question, "How we can keep a livable planet for all?"

Book now and further information, including Zoom Link, will be forwarded to you before the event.

We look forward to seeing you!
