Spoken Word Open Mic

Comedy, poetry, fiction and fun! This is a zoom open mic at an Australian-friendly time, open to English-speaking performers and audience members from across the world.

This is a casual, newbie-friendly event.

There is no special procedure to put your name down to perform. Just turn up on the night, and we'll check in before the show starts to see who's doing what. 

House rules

• Five minute spots. Running under is fine. We are not strict about running over unless we have a lot of people wanting to perform.
• When we have comedy and non-comedy acts, we'll put the comedy and non-comedy in separate sections with a break in between.
• Respect other people and their work. 

Content rules follow the Don't Be TRASH model. That means no:

• transphobia
• racism
• ableism
• sexism
• homophobia or other hate.

Also, no graphically sexual or gory content.

Stand up-style comedy content must be the performer's own work.

Everything else can be readings of work by others but

• Please acknowledge the author at the beginning or end of your set
• If it is not published (eg, a poem your friend wrote and shared with you) please get the author's permission to read it.

Work performed at a Remotely Funny event does not count as "published" for the purposes of competitions or literary journals.
