Spoken Word to Song: A Workshop with SAN DRAGAN
Description
Turn Your Words Into Music
A two-hour creative workshop exploring how written words can transform through sound, music and live performance.
Bring along a spoken word piece, poem or lyrics you’ve already written and would like to develop, or simply come as you are and start completely from scratch.
I’ll provide creative prompts and guided free writing time, and be there to support you as you explore your ideas and discover where your words might lead.
No previous song writing, music or performance experience is required.
Explore Your Words with Live Music
During the second part of the workshop, you’ll have the optional opportunity to explore and perform your piece with a live musician.
Your work might become spoken word over music, poetry, rap, song or something completely unexpected.
There is no pressure to perform, and no particular form your work needs to take. I’ll help guide the performance process and can also experiment with adding live vocals to support your piece.
What to Bring
Bring whatever you like to write with:
A notebook and pen, loose paper, your phone, iPad or another device.
If you already have a poem, lyrics or spoken word piece you’d like to explore, bring that too!
LIVE LIFE, MAKE SOUNDS.
Let’s create together!
With love
