Spooky Stories
Event description
Are you a fan of strange tales? Feel compelled by all things creepy?
We’d love to see you at Spooky Stories at Gang Gang café for a night of fascinating yet disturbing short story readings, and a short musical performance. As Halloween approaches, you can listen to local performers share tales of what haunts us – the spectres of the past, the horrors of the present, unsettling futures, the weird experiences of being human.
Our writers will captivate with their spooky readings. Americo Alvarenga explores the inherent strangeness and wonder of everyday life. S.R. Underschultz crafts a thrilling combination of suspense and horror. C.H. Pearce hops genres in her speculative fiction, with a dash of absurd humour, and a love of doppelgängers, liminal spaces, antiheroines and creepy-crawlies.
Readings will be complemented with a solo musical performance by Julia Hood that similarly engages with the theme of spooky stories.
Come along and give cheers to all things that go bump in the night. Find out what dark and wicked revelations are unique to some of Canberra’s great writers this spooky season.
This is the second event in the “Macabre Dreams” series hosted by Lost Souls Magazine.
