Levelling the playing field: enhancing local social cohesion through intercultural sport
Event description
Recognising the vital role of Sport and Recreation staff and volunteers in building local communities, our next webinar focuses on the importance of local intercultural sport and recreation activities for creating harmonious communities.
At local, national and international levels, sport and recreational activities bring together people from diverse cultural, language and faith backgrounds.
Shared interests, spaces, values and hopes for success create common goals through which intercultural conversation, understanding and friendships form.
The webinar will provide tips for:
- increasing participation from people from diverse cultural, language and faith backgrounds;
- fostering a greater appetite for managing and sharing community facilities; and
- designing intercultural programs and policies which result in positive and meaningful interactions within communities.
This webinar is for volunteers and staff involved in the:
- delivery of sport and recreation programs
- development of policy
- governance of sport and recreation clubs.
Our speakers are:
Irena Guidikova, Head of the Children’s Rights and Sport Values Department, Anti-discrimination Directorate, Council of Europe
and
Jake Battifuoco, General Manager, Power Community Limited, Port Adelaide Football Club
