Sports Connect October 2026

Volunteering From Grassroots to the Games

Building the volunteer workforce for grassroots sports to Brisbane 2032 and beyond

Volunteers are the backbone of grassroots sport. But how people volunteer is changing, presenting a unique opportunity to rethink how we attract, support and develop the people who make community sport possible.

Join us for the next Sunshine Coast Sports Connect, where leaders from sport, community and industry will come together for a facilitated panel discussion on why developing and supporting a robust grassroots volunteering workforce is critical for the 2032 Games and beyond, and how it can create a stronger, more sustainable legacy for community sport.

Together, we’ll explore how volunteering is changing, how we can create stronger pathways from grassroots sport to major events, how we attract and support the next generation of volunteers, and what a successful volunteer legacy could look like beyond 2032.
