Join our experienced Educators for a fascinating and surprising 1.5-hour spotlight walk. See how Centennial Park transforms when the sun sets and spot animals at dusk.

The Park is home to a variety of nocturnal creatures, from brushtail possums, microbats, and tawny frogmouths, to one of Sydney’s largest colonies of grey-headed flying-foxes.

This program is suitable for families with children aged from 5 years. All children must be supervised by an adult.

Things to know before you attend

Please come prepared, as this program will go ahead in all-weather unless it is unsafe to do so (for example, during high winds or thunderstorms). Children must wear enclosed shoes.

This program is suitable for families with children aged from 5 years. All children must be supervised by an adult. All program attendees require a ticket. Spotlight Prowls are not suitable for large groups or birthday parties (a maximum of 10 tickets per person is permitted). Please contact education@gsp.nsw.gov.au to make a private booking.

We reserve the right to cancel the event in case of dangerous weather or if minimum participation numbers are not met. In these circumstances a refund will be offered. Please refer to our full terms and conditions for more information.

What to bring to the event

Ensure you are prepared for this session by bringing:

Enclosed and comfortable shoes
Warm clothing – it gets cold after dark!

A torch
Camera (no flash)
Waterproof clothing in case of wet conditions, as the sessions run rain or shine
A sense of adventure

Your responsibilities if you feel unwell

I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that all attendees associated with this booking do not attend if:

We/I show any COVID-19, infectious disease or virus symptoms or feel unwell
We/I have had a fever, diarrhoea or vomiting within 12 hours or at the time of the program
We/I have been asked to self-isolate
We/I have had a positive COVID-19 test result and continue to have symptoms.
