Event description

Butterflies are an important part of a healthy environment. Both adult butterflies and their caterpillars are food for many creatures like birds. Butterflies also help to pollinate our plants. Many caterpillars can only feed on specific native host plants. Because of this close relationship with plants, butterflies can be an indicator of the environmental health of an area.

Get your citizen science hat on and join us at the Barung Garden for Wildlife and be part of the Spring Sunshine Coast Big Butterfly Count for 2024. Morning tea provided, please register your intention to attend!

To learn more about the Sunshine Coast Big Butterfly Count, visit the Sunshine Coast Council website here.

Meet at the Barung Community Nursery at 10.00am. It's recommended to bring a hat and sunscreen, water, suitable closed toe shoes, camera and a phone loaded with the iNaturalist app.
